David Alexander Barnard is an internationally renowned pianist whose career demonstrates the power of artistic versatility and global collaboration. Born in Australia, Barnard began his studies in Adelaide before moving to the United Kingdom at the age of eighteen, where his talent was immediately recognised by the Britten-Pears School and the British Youth Opera. He has been invited to Buckingham Palace and has also received awards for his services to music.
Barnard, known for his “light touch” that “makes the music dance off the stage,” has performed throughout Europe, Australasia and Africa. His career is a mosaic of prestigious appointments, including as musical director, vocal coach, and choir director. A Winston Churchill Fellow and member of the Royal Society of Musicians, he has shared the stage with many icons of vocal music and collaborated with world-renowned ensembles, from the BBC Symphony to the New Zealand String Quartet, as an orchestral pianist and chamber musician.
